About Susan

I've been teaching people HOW to eat for over 30 years. My first--and one of my most challenging clients--was ME. I promise you, whatever struggles, setbacks or shame you’ve experienced with food, body, weight, truly, truly--I’ve been there—done that!

My story: After more than a dozen years bingeing, starving or dieting with every program known to man/woman (and some more grueling I invented myself), years of losing 11 pounds one week, gaining 13 pounds back the next, years of I’ll never again, followed by OMG I did! I craved peace with food and my body--but how?

With slow steps, small changes and a daily, continued and continuing Mindfulness practice--learning to be in the present moment, to be gentle and compassionate, observing and listening to my brilliant body, gradually, I evolved. By feeling/being instead of thinkingthinkingthinking I began to understand what to eat, when to eat, and how much to eat. I learned to Step Away from the yapping of my fearful, spinning mind, from the judgements, restrictions, fears & habitual behaviors and trust my heart-mind, meaning kindness, compassion, acceptance and peace.

As my struggles with food, body, weight and mind got smaller, I found I had more confidence, compassion, clarity and calm in all parts of my life. And guess what other ginormous (and unexpected) gift I got? The freedom, time and energy to create a more meaningful, creative and happier life than I ever thought possible! Because when my struggles with food, body and weight got smaller and smaller and smaller, there was finally room for me! The authentic me— dancing, painting, writing, walking, reading, laughing, questioning, collaging, cooking, camera-happy, living in the present moment, finally free me.

~And I can teach YOU how to have this too!
